The Quality Control Technician role is based in Winfield, WV and reports directly to the Quality Control Supervisor.

WHAT YOULL GET TO DO

Do you like to collect and examine rocks when you were a kid? Would you like to be instrumental in guaranteeing product quality? Lehigh Hanson is seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician to ensure our product meets the level of standard that comes with being an industry leader. This position is the first line of responsibility for internal quality control measurement, job site, and laboratory and Concrete plant raw material. Also, the position provides immediate response to Lehigh Hanson and customer needs related to product usage and conformance.

  • Promote a safe work environment at the plant as well as jobsites
  • Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance
  • Validate that the proper components and materials are used
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain production tools and testing equipment
  • Perform QC tests for entrained air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sand, yield,
  • unit weight, temperature, and any other necessary test
  • Be onsite quality control monitor, which includes monitoring the quality control testing
  • performed by a third party testing firm on any given project in an effort to ensure the QC testing procedures are being performed correctly per ASTM, as an insurance protection plan for Hanson Ready Mix on spec jobs.
  • Record and report test results to Dispatch, Batch personnel, Plant Manager, and Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Use test results to make mix adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot fresh/hardened concrete problems
  • Assist in the performance of trial batches for state and commercial projects.
  • Act as a customer service facilitator at all times and conduct informative programs for
  • the plant employees and customers as required.
  • Make recommendations and inform the Plant Manager and Quality Control Supervisor when mix design changes are necessary.
  • Promote a clean and environmentally friendly work environment for the employees and the community

Essential Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required, technical school graduate preferred.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
  • Clear and concise oral and written communications skills (English)
  • Capable of making quick and responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Language skills clear and concise oral and written communications skills (English). Strong Interpersonal communication skills a must.
  • Math skills Mathematical Skills such as Order of Operations, Density/Volume/Area Conversions, and some statistical analysis.
  • Reasoning skills capable of making quick and responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment. Understand basic written specifications for products.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including different shifts and overtime when needed
  • Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipmen

Work Environment

Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty condition
